Jason Belleville is that rare comedy guy - he's as good on the page as he is on the stage. The co-writer of the last two Gemini Awards broadcasts and recent co-host of CBC show Prime has carefully honed his smart stand-up act. True, he's not as well known on the circuit as brother Ryan - the two often perform together as the Flying Bellevilles - but he's got his own wacky rhythms. And like most improv-trained comics, he's quick on his feet. Which makes his headlining gig this weekend at the Laugh Resort a must-see. See comedy listings, page 55, for details.
Any New Year's resolutions? The usual stuff. Work out more, spend more time with friends, compose a four-hour symphony so beautiful it ends all war. Oh, and eat less dairy.
Which ones will you actually keep? None. And I plan on breaking a few of my friends' resolutions, too.
Liv, Cate or Viggo? Must I choose? Can't we just roll them all into a giant nerd-lust sandwich and dip them in hobbit sauce?
What will be in the extended version of The Return Of The King? Hopefully, there'll be a bit where Peter Jackson remakes the last two Star Wars films.
Who will play Saddam in the biopic? Vin Diesel. It will end very differently.
What will the film be called? Bye-bye Beardy. Attendance will be poor.
You're a regular writer for the Gemini Awards. What's the difference between a Gemini and a Genie? A Gemini goes to a show people know about but probably don't watch. A Genie goes to... God, I'm even boring myself.
From whom were you separated at birth? I guess it would be my mom. I mean, from what I've been told, it was her uterus. Do you know something you're not telling me?
Any sibling rivalry between you and comic brother Ryan? There would be if he had any talent. (He gave me that line. Damn, he's good.)
