Commercial prospects

Rating: NNNNN

We all need a bit of extra cash around the holidays, so it’s no wonder tons of local actors are showing up hawking goods in TV commercials. One of the funniest ads stars stand-up Ryan Belleville, who downs a few pieces of Dentyne Ice and freezes his head off. The big chill is ironic, since Belleville’s had a hotter-than-ever year. He made the film Going The Distance and will be a regular on the Fox TV series Related By Family. You can catch him in two comedy nights at the Rivoli – Ryan Belleville & Friends on Monday (December 13) and the Flying Bellevilles Fly Again (with brother Jason) on Tuesday (December 14). See Comedy Listings for details.

Advertiser/product? Dentyne Ice.

Plot scenario? I eat gum. My head falls off. You should eat gum.

Character and motivation? I’m Danny the troubled journalism student, who struggles with his integrity in a world of sound bites. Oh… and my head falls off.

Why were you right for the role? You’d be amazed how some eye makeup and a revealing shirt can sway a casting director.

What got cut? The dance number. It’s called Everything’s Coming Up Headless. It was funny till we turned on the news.

What did you buy with your first cheque? A big fucking TV. To watch CNN. I want to watch the world going to hell in high def.

What do you want to sell next? Herpes medication. Sure, it’ll make me look like I have herpes, but it’ll also look like I get laid a lot.
