Fringe Review: Washed Up

WASHED UP

Theatre Passe Muraille Backspace

See show info here

Rating: NN

In this semi-autobiographical solo show, local actor/high school teacher Joanne Latimer finds herself washed up on a deserted island – a convenient frame for her collection of observations, and reflections about her struggles as a middle-aged working mom.

We gets lots of detailed personal stories – some of them chuckle-worthy – about her quirky Irish family, and her exhausting day-to-day grind, but very slow pacing and the fact that the island subplot is never really fleshed out hamper the impact.
