This crazy town is about to get a whole lot crazier, but this time with show tunes.
On Monday (June 16), there's an open casting call to find the actor to play the world's most famous mayor in an upcoming show called Rob Ford The Musical: Birth Of A Ford Nation.
The production goes up September 16 at the Factory Theatre. But for now the production team is looking for a leading man - and, obviously, a bit of international media exposure the casting call will generate.
The show is written by actor/writer Brett McCaig, whose previous credits include co-writing Bosco & Jones and Nursery School Musical.
The auditions take place from 10 am until 2 pm at the Second City Training Centre (70 Peter). Those interested are asked to bring "their quirky, talented, interesting self, ready to preform a one-minute comedy monologue and one pop, rock, or comedy song and headshot and resume. Feel free to dress as Rob Ford. No resemblance required - ‘colour blind' casting."
So far our ridiculous mayor has inspired an opera, a dramatic monologue and a holiday musical called It's A Wonderful Toronto: A Rob Ford Holiday Spectacular.
So if you think you've got what it takes, put down that imaginary crack pipe, loosen your belt, hop in your Cadillac Escalade and get to the audition on Monday, folks.
Here's the complete open casting call.
