The Fringe is always full of comedy performers of all stripes – improv, stand-up and sketch.
New Second City Tourco member Mandy Sellers and her partner Laura Salvas bring their sketch savvy to Two Weird Ladies Bomb The Fringe (from July 6 at the Helen Gardiner Phelan), while the fantastic Vancouver troupe Peter n’ Chris (Peter Carlone and Chris Wilson) remount their T.O. SketchFest Audience Choice-winning Peter n’ Chris And The Mystery Of The Hungry Heart Motel (from Wednesday, July 4 at the George Ignatieff), a great showcase for their physical and verbal comedy skills.
Sketch and improv comic Isaac Kessler, familiar to Fringe audiences for 2-Man No-Show, is part of the ensemble cast of Vincenzo Aliberti’s A Funeral For Clowns (from July 6 at the Annex Theatre), which is definitely not for those who find red-nosers scary.
And stand-up Dylan Gott delivers 50 minutes of funny about being fat, sexually inadequate and creepy in Dylan Gott: Medicine Woman (from July 5 at the Solo Room).
One guaranteed good time is late entry The Soaps (from July 6 at St. Vlad’s), an improvised soap opera. Set against the backdrop of 1812, the continuing show features some improv pioneers, including Paul Bates, Lisa Brooke, Jan Caruana, Chris Gibbs and Sandy Jobin-Bevans.
