Fringe Review: Corral Blue Can’t Dance!

CORRAL BLUE CAN’T DANCE!

Rating: NN

In this production aimed at young audiences, Corral Blue (writer/performer Amy Zuch), wanting to hold an Awesome Possum Party, corrals the audience into her world of friends and family. We learn she’s shy about dancing, but by the show’s end she faces her fears.

What follows is an hour of lame comedy (of the improv sort, with suggestions coming from the audience and a prop bag), underused puppets, meandering storytelling and performances that should have more energy.

The best part of the show is the music, played on the autoharp by Zuch and guitar by musical director “Cactus” Kevin Henkel, who should have more to do.

There are some ideas for a show here, but they need development and a stronger directorial hand.
