>>> Fringe Review: Life List

LIFE LIST by Alex Eddington. Walking tour starts at Randolph Theatre (736 Bathurst). July 2, 3, 9, 10 at 3 and 7:30 pm July 7 and 8 at 7:30 pm. Buy tickets. Rating: NNNN

Storyteller Alex Eddington’s thoughtful and creative tribute to his late mother and her love for bird-watching encourages you to stretch your legs and imagination on a guided tour in search of an illusive white robin.

Eddington pairs up participants, giving each group binoculars and a map to record sightings. Along the route, which twists and turns though Annex streets, he shares engaging stories from his childhood. The show is highly interactive, with audience members encouraged to ask questions and contribute observations.

Inevitably, there is also interaction with the neighbourhood. On Canada Day, a passing dog walker complimented the group’s spirit, children looked on with curiosity and a ginger feline sat attentively as if listening in on a story.

Eddington’s friend and uke player Andrew Gaboury appears sporadically to lend his engaging energy and musical accompaniment for some singing. The tour winds down in a local park with a tender ceremony to remember those we’ve loved and lost.
