Shows with great titles

Let’s face it. Sometimes a catchy, clever or downright silly title can make you want to see a show.

Consider Release The Stars: The Ballad Of Randy And Evi Quaid (from Wednesday, July 4 at the Six20Seven Gallery), in which Amanda Barker and Daniel Krolik look at the stranger-than-fiction story of C-list celeb Quaid and his wife as they seek refuge in BC after fleeing burglary and misdemeanour charges in the U.S.

Then there’s How I Lost One Pound, The Musical (from July 5 at Theatre Passe Muraille Mainspace), which might give us something to hum while eating ice cream after finishing that jog. And for self-reflexive humour, there’s Two Weird Ladies Bomb The Fringe (from July 6 at the Helen Gardiner Phelan), featuring Laura Salvas and new Second City Tourco cast member Mandy Sellers.

And we have to admit we laughed at the title Eat, Poo, Love (from July 6 at the Randolph), which will definitely not be as earnest as Elizabeth Gilbert’s similarly named self-actualization travelogue.
