Theatres around town raise the curtains high Tuesday (March 27), World Theatre Day, with the inaugural Not A Seat In The House campaign. Aiming to sell out every local venue -- that's around 7,000 seats -- some companies offer special prices. And what's a celebration without a party? In the afternoon, the Association of Summer Theatres Round Ontario (ASTRO) announces its 2001 season at a launch party open to everyone, 2 to 5 pm, at Alice Fazooli's (294 Adelaide West).Dedication pays off. Canadia dell'Arte Theatre's Peter Reitzel and Julie Reitzel are winners of this year's K.M. Hunter Artists Awards, presented to professionals who are beginning to have "an impact in their chosen fields." It's great recognition for the group -- including company members Michael Chipman and Dennis Frey -- whose collective creative and performing strengths range from Fringe outdoor commedia shows to unusual takes on classics in their east-end theatre. Choreographer/performer Marie-Josée Chartier is the winner of the Hunter award for dance.
