Kudos for Puppetmongers Theatre , run by sister and brother Ann and David Powell . Last month at their national festival, the Puppeteers of America presented the company with the President's Award. Two years ago the prize went to Ronnie Burkett; other winners include Julie Taymor and Jim Henson. Puppetmongers are touring their new show, Foolish Tales For Foolish Times , to schools, and next December revive their charming Tea At The Palace .
Seems only fair that Sonja Mills 's outstanding Dora-nominated The Danish Play , based on the life of 40s Danish Resistance fighter Agnete Ottosen, should travel across the ocean to the country where it's set. The Nightwood Theatre production, directed by Kelly Thornton and critically acclaimed when it premiered last fall, tours to Copenhagen's Aveny-T Theatre next May. With the same fine cast, we hope. And here's hoping Toronto audiences will see it again before it crosses the Atlantic.
