Top Gun! takes Manhattan

Top Gun! The Musical is taking off yet again. Denis McGrath and Scott White ‘s show, which began life at the 2002 Fringe before a successful Dora-nominated remount at the Factory Theatre, has been selected to be part of the inaugural New York Musical Theatre Festival , which runs September 13 to October 3. The show, a funny send-up of musicals based on bad films, is in good company. The festival also includes new musicals by Stephen (Godspell) Schwartz , Jeff Marx and Robert Lopez (creators of current hit Avenue Q) and John Kander and Fred Ebb , the guys behind Chicago and Cabaret.

Directed by Colin Viebrock , this production of TG!TM includes original cast members Dmitry Chepovetsky , David Collins , Steven Gallagher , Alison Lawrence and Racheal McCaig . They’re joined this time by Sharon Heldt and Brett McCaig .

Liftoff for the show is September 27, with performances through October 3 at the 47th Street Theatre. Call 212-352-3101 or log on to www.nymf.org for tickets.
