Despite a confessional preamble in which all the performers discuss their attitudes towards love and sex, MacArthur Park Suite: A Disco Ballet lives up to its title. It’s nearly all dancing (ballet and jazz) to some disco classics from the Donna Summer catalogue.

The first half is dominated by the extended version of I Feel Love, which each dancer strutting his or herself to Giorgio Morodor’s hypnotic, pulsating score. The second half includes a tribute to the eponymous MacArthur Park, complete with a soggy cake descending in true camp fashion from the rafters.

While there are few surprises in Ryan G. Hinds and Nicole Rose Bond’s choreography, the cast is gloriously diverse in all senses of the world, and there are some fun 70s touches, like a disco ball and a nod to that era’s drug excesses.
