MOVING DAY by Cathy Elliott, directed by Jeannette Lambermont-Morey (ZillA). Jan 10 at 4:45 pm, Jan 11 and 13 at 9 pm, Jan 12 at 3 pm. Rating: NNN

Set on the day of the first U.S. moon landing, writer/performer Cathy Elliott’s Moving Day is a song cycle about the angst of a 1960s housewife. Backed up musically onstage by the talented trio of Cyndi Carleton, Jane Miller and Konrad Pluta, Elliott’s singing resonates with longing and despair.

However, the plot is thin and the show relies too heavily on the gimmick of spoofing variety shows and the movie Godzilla.

Director Jeannette Lambermont-Morey needs to cut the cutesiness to find the heart.
