Vote Conservatives

CONSERVATIVES IN LOVE by Dave Carley, directed by Sue Miner (Pea Green). Jan 10 and 13 at 7 pm, Jan 11 at 9 pm, Jan 12 at 3:15 pm. Rating: NNNNN

Think of Dave Carley’s latest as a wonderfully plotted French farce with a brain. Ten interconnected people find themselves caught up in politics and sexual adventures when they attend a Young Conservatives event at a local art gallery.

The result is totally engaging and entertaining, with sharply drawn characters and zingers that skewer left, right and centre. The cast – Jason Jazrawy, Richard Lee, Anne Page and Marie Beath Badian as figures straight, gay and bi – are wonderful under Sue Miner’s direction. And if you’ve ever wondered who the federal minister of culture is, you’ll discover you’re not alone.
