A February 20 panel discussion about black artists making stereotype-challenging music is now viewable online.
The 90-minute session took place at the Music Gallery and featured New York-based electronic musician Val-Inc, local musicians Ayo Leilani (aka Witch Prophet), Alanna Stuart of Bonjay who moderated and broadcasters Garvia Bailey of Jazz.FM91 and Amanda Parris of CBC.
During the wide-ranging talk, filmed by Chart Attack, the panelists talked about evolutions in the media landscape in Canada and the impact and work of musicians like Erykah Badu, Nina Simone, Frank Ocean and Kanye West.
