After one of his final meals in Toronto, Susur Lee brought out his kitchen staff for one last goodbye. It was a subdued exit for one of the world's premiere chefs.
Lee arrived in Toronto from Hong Kong in 1978. He worked in kitchens at the Westbury Hotel and Le Trou Normand before becoming executive chef at the Queen West corner bistro Peter Pan. He then moved onto bigger kitchens at Hemispheres and Oceans, and later to his own Susur and more casual Lee, which sit side-by-side on King St. W. He also appeared on Iron Chef America in 2006.
As mentioned in the video, Lee is moving to New York to cook at Thompson Lower East Side Hotel.
