Who: Slavoj Zizek and others

Where: Council Chambers, 100 Queen West

Why: For a completely different Nuit Blanche experience, soak up some heady intellectual musings presented by York U’s Public Access PAC and Public Journal. The subject is “the shift from global consciousness to planetary awareness in a world of radical interdependencies where ecology must win out over political economy.” Academics speak on three panels: Techne, at 7:30 pm, on the presentation of knowledge Bios, at 9:15 pm, on the end of biology and Capital, at 11 pm, featuring philosopher/cultural critic Zizek, on the end of capital vs the end the world as precipitated by capital. Wim Wenders’s 1991 film Until The End Of The World screens at 1 am.
