Amber Delicious

Amber Delicious, 388 College 416-913-5248, www.amberdelicious.com Rating: NNNNN

Amber Delicious’s pre-Easter window displayed an army of pink and purple plastic bunnies staring hungrily at a very 50s yellow-and-kelly-green cotton dress. Their lustful look is a common sight at the east-of-Little Italy clothing shop, where excellently edited retro frocks mingle with consignment accessories and new indie designer duds.

Costume and wardrobe designer Amber Honor opened the shop last August, and her eye for beautiful, unique and good-quality couture has quickly won her the respect of local vintage buyers. If you’ve got an eye for fab fashion flashbacks or a limited budget, you’ll find what you’re looking for among reasonably-priced baby-doll dresses, sequined shifts and cutesy-striped short shorts.

Set against the boutique’s tangerine damask wallpaper, new pieces by local designers including Prussia , Vo and Cynara reveal their vintage inspiration and one-of-a-kind quality. Reducing consumption when faced with such pretty things from the past might be tricky, but Honor makes it easy to enthusiastically embrace the other two Rs.

Amber Delicious’s picks: A cocktail-perfect ivory metallic floral-print Creeds dress, $150 Prussia’s lace capelet featurng grommeting and satin ribbon details, $125 mint and marvellous white-on-red polka-dot Marc Jacobs peek-a-boo toe sandals, $300.

Look for: Honor’s own Amber Delicious line and a new collection of lacy ready-to-wear Ts in mellow pastel shades.

Hours: Wednesday to Saturday noon to 6 pm.
