While the young Welland boys have been riding under the protective wing of Dallas Green and Moneen for the last year or so, collecting fans with promising EPs and show-stealing opening slots, it’s time for them to break out and grab some of the spotlight.
Mining two songs from the Widows EP (not sure what’s up with the marital theme here, but there’s also track called Husbands), Attack in Black go big with the anthemic punk choruses on Broken Things, with its rousing Against Me! hook, and then shift gears to the heartfelt Constantines-influenced If All I Thought Were True.
The disparate tracks exemplify Marriage’s successful see-saw between rural-tinged tear-jerkers (Chimes And Church Bells) and fist-in-the-air post-punk (Come What May). All the right moves this should be huge.
