BLONDIE

Rating: NN

The fleeting fascination with all things 80s that has resulted in worthwhile reunion albums from the Buzzcocks and Wire was bound to get people like the members of Blondie thinking about making some easy money. The Curse Of Blondie appears to be a quick and dirty attempt to appeal to nostalgia buffs by recreating their disco-dented sound and throwing in a few winking references to hits past. Although a few 40-somethings may be delighted by the Studio 54 reverie, the whole “exactly the same only different” strategy makes for a disc as tedious to listen to as it must have been for them to make.
