Boob Tape 101

1. Invest

Invest in double-sided fashion tape and breast lift tape. You can find them easily at lingerie stores like La Senza and Victoria’s Secret, or drugstores like Shopper’s Drug Mart. If you’re in a pinch, you can also use medical or sports tape. If you’re really desperate, duct tape is acceptable, but it can irritate skin and be a pain to take off.

2.  No lotion

Make sure there’s no lotion or oil on your skin. This can prevent the tape from sticking properly. Clean and dry skin before starting.

3. Adding extra oomph

If you want to give your breasts a bit of extra oomph, lean over slightly while you tape them.

4. Application

Take two strips of breast lift tape 12-16 inches long and apply in a shape similar to a bra cup for each breast. You want to start under the centre of each breast, go up over each breast and as high as you want toward your collarbone.

5. Positioning

Depending on the dress style, you can also place a strip of tape between the two breasts, positioned low on your cleavage.

6. Coverage and support

If you want extra support and/or nipple coverage, you can combine taping with contoured bra cups or nipple covers. A DIY option is to cut the cups out of an old bra you no longer use. If all else fails, try Band-Aids.

7. Securing

Use double-stick tape or folded tape to secure your outfit on either side of your nipples.

8. Placement

If wearing a plunging dress or blazer, use short pieces of double-sided tape to secure the edge of the neckline to your chest. Make sure the garment doesn’t gape anywhere along the way, and leave a quarter-inch of space between the neckline and tape so that it isn’t visible.

9. Testing

Test your handiwork to ensure it doesn’t budge or make any unwanted noise when you move.

10. Good to go!

You’re ready to party! Those boobs aren’t going anywhere.
