Bunny Brown

Rating: NNN

Bunny Brown has some pretty awesomely crafted songs on Tomorrow The World – catchy riffs, great vocal lines, fun phrasing. Her voice works in every register and at any volume, from a falsetto to a cutesy speaking voice to a growl. Alas, Brown’s lyrics are terrible, predictable anti-establishment sloganeering of the angry-teen-yelling-at-Mom-and-Dad ilk, neither clever, insightful, witty nor humorous enough to work. “See the little robots moving in a robot fashion”? If Brown gets herself another writer, or works on her lyrical chops, I have confidence that she can make a great record, because everything else about this one is virtually perfect. Bunny Brown plays the Oasis Saturday (June 12) for NXNE.
