This band’s a three-piece, but the Nirvana comparison only gets made because vocalist Dimitri Coats occasionally drops some Cobainy vocal stylings. Otherwise, this disc, especially the first half, mostly consists of crunchy new alternative rock in the vein of the Datsuns, the Vines and all that jazz, with nods to Sabbath, AC/DC and the concept of anarchy. Burning Brides run through a gamut of sounds, some of them rad, but in general it’s droney. The ballads closer to the end make for the most pleasant listening.
