CELINE DION

CELINE DION One Heart (Sony) Rating: N

Rating: N

Oh my god, someone must’ve neglected to mention to Celine Dion’s marketing folks that Britney is so three years ago, ’cause they’re tryin’ damn hard to reinvent her for pop-tart crossover success. If the Spears-type CD sleeve photo — in which the poorboy-cap-sporting Ms. Dion bears an uncanny resemblance to the ex-Mouseketeer, glazed-over Britney stare and all — didn’t tip you off, then maybe the disco dance pop tone of half her new tunes (Love Is All I Need is *Nsync’s Bye Bye Bye with different lyrics) will. The only possible benefit is that Dion’s toned down her epic Titanic bellowing with a poppier warble sorta. I swear I just saw the first horseman of the Apocalypse gallop by.
