MPP, Parkdale-High Park

What’s your New Year’s resolution?

I long ago gave up personal ones – the losing-weight-and-exercising-more kind of thing – because those never happen. But in terms of broader themes, I’m here in Queen’s Park because this position gives me access to actually making a difference in the lives of the marginalized.

What resolution would you impose on someone else?

I’d want Dalton McGuinty to do two things: raise the minimum wage above the poverty line and invest massively in housing. Those are two ways to get us out of the recession.

What’s the hardest resolution to keep?

The easiest to break and hardest to work on is to wish joy to all those who wish us ill. I don’t claim to be any more saintly than anyone else, but particularly when you work in the den of thieves here, it’s difficult to feel kindly about people some days.
