The ever-changing landscape of Queen West has a new cold-pressed juice bar, Daily Press Juicery (200 Queen West, at St. Patrick, 647-351-0800, dailypressjuicery.ca). After less than a month in business, its most popular drinks are the Maleficent (a black concoction of activated charcoal, lemon, agave nectar and alkaline water, $9), the Pinakaleada (an alcohol-free spin on the pina colada with kale, pineapple, apple, lemon and ginger) and the Mylkilicious (almond milk with cashews, agave nectar, dates, sea salt and cinnamon, both $11).
A selection of juices are available as cleanses. The Reboot, Training and Expert cleanses, designed to replace food for a day, come with six 450 ml juices and two 275 ml juices of the customer’s choice ($75/one day, $200/ three days, $325/five days). Daily Press will deliver.
It sounds pricey, but think about it this way: the cost of a one-day cleanse is pretty much the same as a greasy takeout lunch plus one too many patio beers and an ill-advised late-night McDonald’s drive-through order in the cab home.
Your body will thank you.
