Electric Life’s A Struggle (Sun Moon) Rating: NNNNN

Rating: NNNNN

Anyone wondering whatever happened to all the hiphop groups schooled on A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul and Ultramagnetic MCs need look no further than Boston’s Electric Company crew, whose name appears to be shortened to Electric for the release of their fabulous full-length debut, Life’s A Struggle. It’s a welcome return to a more musically evolved concept of hiphop, where the grooves, harmonies and melodies are no less important in conveying a conscious message than the beats and rhymes. And hardcore street wisdom is imparted with clarity and conviction without the need for an explicit lyrics warning.
