Folk-Bollywood with Zainab

India is home to a billion people, and as part of the lives of a billion people are innumerable styles of dance, music, and culture. These diversities are intrinsic to the fabric of India and are well respected as ‘folk’ styles.

Folk music and dance has also inspired Bollywood, which has made its name far and wide and attracts a huge community of global fans. It is this interesting essence of Folk roots on popular Bollywood tracks that will be explored in these sessions.

Classes 1 through 4 will include hip-hop foundations, Punjabi Folk (Bhangara), Gujarat & Rajasthani Folk (Ghoomar), and Marathi Folk (Lavani). Each dance style will be practiced while learning about their historical roots. No previous dance experience is required, and all levels are welcome!
