Touted as a showcase for the MCs signed to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint, Cruel Summer (out Tuesday, September 18 through Universal) will undoubtedly reflect the notoriously controlling rapper/producer’s current production whims and interests.
Official details about the compilation album have been scant, but according to a track listing posted on Amazon, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon and Ma$e trade rhymes with Big Sean, Malik Yusef (aka Mos Def) and Pusha T.
Singles Mercy and Clique (featuring Jay-Z) reflect West’s recent interest in icy, aggressive electronic beats that switch up for each verse. The presence of R&B powerhouses R. Kelly, The-Dream and Marsha Ambrosius should warm the mood.
