WHERE Friday (July 18) at the Gladstone Hotel Ballroom, part of Uma Nota’s first anniversary and Sunday (July 20) on the second floor of Tequila Bookworm, for the launch of a new monthly jazz-focused event called Freedom Time, alongside Jason Palma and John Kong.
WHAT “There’s little separation between what I personally enjoy and what I DJ, which means I tend to play just about anything from polyrhythmic, funky and soulful to robotic, electronic and mechanical. Ultimately, my favourite music tends to be the kind that moves you emotionally, not just physically.”
WHY “I got into DJing at age 14 after hearing friends spin house, hip-hop and drum ’n’ bass at various parties. A little while later, my sets started to include weird vintage records I found at local flea markets and second-hand shops, and gradually I found my own style.”
