Album reviews Music

George Michael

Rating: NNN

With its quietly dance-y vibe leavened by the occasional vacation dance song, this new George Michael disc sounds like the male equivalent of the last Kylie Minogue album, except more mellow. If you hear it during a weak moment, its melancholy mood may inspire tears. Any other time, though, it will cause continued questioning of the validity of George Michael’s existence. Many of the songs here don’t sound all that different from recent production jobs by the Neptunes, which is fine, but what we really want to hear are the remixes. And by “we,” I’m referring to fans of George Michael remixes.
