GLENN GOULD NOT GAY!

Either it’s a very slow news day or everyone down at One Yonge’s on vacation, but the lead story on the front page of today’s Toronto Star is a riveting read by former staffer Michael Clarkson in which he claims that eccentric local pianist Glenn Gould had sex with a woman.

To prove it, Clarkson tracks down one Cornelia Foss in the Hamptons who says she had a long-running affair with the notoriously phobic and presumed limp-wristed ivory tickler back in the 60s.
“I assure you, he was an extremely heterosexual man. Our relationship was, among other things, quite sexual,” Foss is quoted as saying.
Clarkson contends, “to this day, Gould is remembered as a Canadian cultural giant, yet his private life remains shrouded in mystery. For most of his adult life, rumours abounded that he was asexual or gay. And yet, for four-and-a-half years, Gould allowed a beautiful, married artist to care for him, to caress him. In the words of his favourite Barbra Streisand song, He Touched Me – ‘Suddenly … nothing was the same.’”
Sounds straight to me! Though Gould’s obsession with Petula Clark is on the record, his thoughts on the Village People and Cher remain unknown.
