James Franco Freaks About Geeks

I’ve liked James Franco ever since I saw his amazing performance as James Dean in a made-for-cable miniseries about the late Rebel. And he was terrific in Freaks and Geeks, one of those shows that everybody loved but nobody seemed to watch. When I interviewed him for the original Spider-man – he plays the son of the Green Goblin and Peter parker’s pal and chief rival for mary Jane’s Affections – we spent most of the conversation talking about playing Dean and the late lamented Freaks and Geeks, one of the best TV shows ever.

While he was also great in City By The Sea with Robert DeNiro, he’s mostly been doing forgettable crap like Annapolis and Tristan + Isolde. He had a small part in In The Valley Of Elah – the film could’ve used more of him – but he’s mostly disappeared from film, it seems.

Which is why I was happy to discover this extra from the Knocked Up DVD. I didn’t much care for the movie but the extras are worth checking out.
