MASSIVE ATTACK

MASSIVE ATTACK 100th Window (Virgin) Rating: NN Rating: NN

Had Massive Attack released 100th Window (out Tuesday) 10 years ago, there’s no question the slow-drifting triphop soundscapes would’ve been huge, with the emerging chill-out nation just waiting for something like Portishead to come along. But lots has happened in the past decade (or even just the four years it took Robert “3D” del Naja to assemble 100th Window by himself), which makes all the soft ‘n’ cuddly dubwise ooze sound like little more than quaint nostalgia. Choice background choons for restaurants and college dorms.
