Maude Barlow, vaunted Canadian patriot and national chair of the Council of Canadians, is becoming just as valuable as a citizen of the world. Now board chair of the Washington-based Food & Water Watch, her current passion is water and the threats to its supply. In her new book, Blue Future: Protecting Water For People And The Planet Forever ($24.95, Anansi), she offers a plan for the defence of our most essential resource from apathetic governments and rapacious corporations. She talks about the book with Mark Mattson of Lake Ontario Waterkeeper at a free event tonight (Thursday, October 10) at Steelworkers Hall. See Readings.
