Never before seen at the COC and seldom performed anywhere in the world, Cherubini’s Medea finally arrives at the Four Seasons Centre in a visually striking, brand-new production helmed by renowned Scottish director Sir David McVicar. Based on an ancient Greek myth, the sorceress Medea helps Giasone, leader of the famous Argonauts, steal the Golden Fleece—only to be abandoned by him, setting her down a path of chilling, violent vengeance against all those who have wronged her. The star-studded features renowned soprano Sondra Radvanovsky, one of the select few singers to tackle the title character, as well as some of America’s finest operatic artists: tenor Matthew Polenzani as Giasone, soprano Janai Brugger as Glauce, and bass-baritone Eric Owens as Creonte.
