MOBY

Rating: NN

Realizing that he’s actually become the global star he knew he was, Moby returns to his studio and uses Pro Tools to slightly tweak the formula which contributed, in part, to the multi-million selling success of his Play album. Naturally he resumes looping fragments of soulful vocal signifiers over innocuously shuffling mid-tempo string orchestrations that vaguely suggest some deeply felt emotion without really saying anything. So what we get are empty shells of the songs he’s gutted songs not the spiritual message within, leaving his elaborate constructions ultimately hollow and meaningless — perfect for commercials.
