NORAH JONES

NORAH JONES Feels Like Home (Blue Note) Rating: NNNN

Rating: NNNN

Instead of trying to recreate the jazzy vibe of the multimillion-selling Come Away With Me, Norah Jones enlists the production wisdom of legendary producer Arif Mardin to pursue a low-key 70s soul concept centred around warm, gently rolling Fender Rhodes grooves. That doesn’t mean that Jones has turned her back on her successful formula. Her soft cooing is still way up in the mix, and the rootsy acoustic picking of her superb backing combo remains muted to appropriate cocktail levels. Can’t miss.
