Poutini’s now open on King West

Between the office crowds and the party crowds, it looks like King West is Toronto’s new favourite spot for burgeoning restaurant dynasties (check out Pizzeria Libretto and Porchetta and Co.’s recent openings). The latest to join the fray: Poutini’s, who have opened their first satellite location after seven years of serving the gooey stuff on Queen West.

The new shop opened late last week at 617 King West (at Portland, 647-342-8845, poutini.com) in a stripped-down spot that looks remarkably like the original Poutini’s, with the very King West addition of a decorative fireplace. Fancy! The menu’s the same, but expect occasional specials – like a brunch poutine with eggs, bechamel and bacon and a vegetarian “Poutini Florentini” set to be served on Mother’s Day (May 8).

Currently, they’re only open in the evenings Tuesday to Sunday (and late into the wee hours Thursday through Saturday), with more extended hours to follow as they get up and running.
