Preloved

Rating: NNNNN

Long before ecoholism was in (about a decade earlier, to be exact), Julia Grieve launched Preloved (www.preloved.ca), recycling retro trench coats, T-shirts and fabrics into fresh new fashions. Last Wednesday, February 20, her flagship Toronto shop was one of 13 stores burned in the Queen and Bathurst fire. Preloved has always had a knack for giving bedsheets and Grandpa sweaters stylish second lives, so it’s no surprise that Grieve and company are already working on the boutique’s rebirth. In the meantime, a mock shop has been set up in the company’s head office (24 Ryerson, suite 100, 416-703-1936) selling salvaged spring stock between noon and 6 pm.
