RADIOHEAD I Might Be Wrong: Live Recordings (EMI) Rating: NN
A half-assed EP of live recordings heavy on crowd cheering seems a bit rich for a group who tried to reinvent rock music on their last two albums and went insane. Radiohead are capable of gripping live shows, though you’d hardly know it by the eight songs here. While it’s nice to hear Like Spinning Plates forward instead of backwards, as it is on record, the straight-ahead performances of The National Anthem, I Might Be Wrong and Idioteque add nothing to their recorded versions. In what comes off as little more than an out-of-character cash grab, the hook is a version of the widely sought-after, rarely played and previously unreleased song True Love Waits. The acoustic strum here is fine, but hardly enough to hang an entire EP on.
