The Regent Park Film Festival returns to Daniels Spectrum through Saturday with its most expansive program to date – and, as always, all screenings are free (with seats reservable online) and free child care is available on-site.

This year’s offerings include The Prison In Twelve Landscapes (Thursday, 3:30 pm), Driving With Selvi (Saturday, 5:30 pm), and Jean Of The Joneses (Saturday, 8 pm). There’s also a screening of Hugh Gibson’s powerful documentary The Stairs Thursday at 6 pm, followed by a talkback panel with Gibson, his subjects and the South Riverdale Community Health Centre’s Zoë Dodd.

An episode of the CBC sitcom Kim’s Convenience screens Friday at 6:30 pm, followed by a conversation with creator Ins Choi, cast members Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Jean Yoon and Simu Liu and Soulpepper founder Albert Schultz.

This year’s family programming is pretty animated: Saturday morning’s Breakfast And A Movie program features the Brazilian allegory Boy & The World at 9 am, French sci-fi adventure April And The Extraordinary World at 11:15 am, and Japan’s The Boy And The Beast at 1:15 pm.

And the late-night screening of Joe Cornish’s delirious sci-fi actioner Attack The Block (Friday, 11 pm) – which launched the career of The Force Awakens star John Boyega – is sure to be a blast.

The fest also offers morning master classes in sci-fi video (Friday, 11 am) and virtual reality (Saturday, 11 am) and an afternoon panel on the intersection of digital activism and Black Lives Matter (Saturday, 3 pm).
