Rheostatics

Rating: NNN

It’s been three years since the Rheostatics released a record. While Night Of The Shooting Star had some seriously hard-rockin’ moments, 2067 can be described off the top as spacious, with sparse guitars and lots of room for the vocals to ring through in full indie rock mode. As the record moves on, we get into more cacophonic and eventually trippy electronic and psychedelic territory, and then back into spacious mode again while maintaining the progression of folk and blues, among other things. There are touching and/or clever lyrics here, like the Power Ballad For Ozzie Osbourne, and some great song structure. Very nice.
