ROB ZOMBIE

ROB ZOMBIE The Sinister Urge (Universal) Rating: NNN

With his filmmaking career on hold since Universal Studios reportedly found his House of 1000 Corpses movie “too dark and disturbing” to release, Rob Zombie returns to the recording studio to cut The Sinister Urge with celebrity guests Ozzy Osborne, Tommy Lee, DJ Lethal and Mix Master Mike. The film experience shows up in the use of larger orchestrations to create the tension and unsettling vibe of classic horror flick soundtracks, and although some of the tempos have been slowed to a Foetus-like grind to increase the menace, there’s still enough screaming, pounding and guitar scorch to get White Zombie fans’ fists pumping.
