SEAN PAUL

SEAN PAUL Duttyology (VP/Atlantic) Rating: NNNN Rating: NNNN

If you’ve been wondering what happened to MuchMusic fixture Tony “Master T” Young since he took a permanent vacation from the nation’s music station three years back, the answer’s in the LOL-worthy title Duttyology, the DVD companion to dancehall wonderbwoy Sean Paul’s smash Dutty Rock LP.

Directed, produced and executive-produced entirely by Young, this is a peek at the mechanics of the Sean Paul machine and everything else that makes the performer such an international sensation and stand-alone in bringing dancehall so far into the mainstream.

Shot on quality grain, Duttyology features intimate behind-the-scenes clips from Jamaica’s Reggae Sunfest 03, the promotion of his album, cameos by Beenie Man and Sasha, the making of all his videos (including interviews with director Little X and choreographer Tanisha Scott), a photo gallery and all 18 songs of his recent Toronto show.

In his interviews, Sean Paul comes off as that cooled-out dude you’d just love to smoke with, but the real fun here is in watching the dancers (including the devastatingly cute little boy in the Get Busy video) hotsteppin’ away.

For anyone who’s ever made it clap to Gimme The Light, ya dun know ya haffe stick to this DVD like glue.
