Seinfeld pop-up bar coming to Toronto

For a show that was ostensibly about nothing, Seinfeld was one of TV’s most food-obsessed sitcoms. Since it went off the air in 1999, a wave of nostalgia for the show has brought a George Costanza-themed bar to Melbourne and a Hulu-created replica of Jerry’s apartment to New York.

Looks like it’s Toronto’s turn. A Seinfeld-themed pop-up bar is set to open for the summer with a launch party on July 15 (pre-sale tickets will be available soon). The pop-up’s Facebook page seems to indicate an address in the area of Dundas and Dufferin. (Hey, right around the corner from The Lockhart!)

The pop-up promises to be a replica of Monk’s Cafe, Jerry and co.’s favourite hangout throughout the series. Expect a full kitchen with a menu of marble rye sandwiches, “No Soup For You”, muffin tops, and Kenny Rogers Chicken. A gift shop will sell Junior Mints, boxes of cereal, and other Seinfeldian snacks, and there will be a full bar, because those pretzels will make you thirsty.
