Billion dollar cookie, anyone?

Global makeup retailer Sephora is getting dragged online after celebrating a major milestone with snacks for its staff.

The company hit $10 billion in revenue in North America recently and some of its stores got cookies to ring in the occasion.

According to an internal  note for staff, posted on X, in 2023, the franchise had its biggest Black Friday sale ever, the biggest warehouse fulfilment day in history and its highest traffic day.

This letter along with a bucket of cookies did not go over well with people.

One employee told Business Insider that it was a disappointment.

“They are always coaching us to meet our goals and expectations, and, of course, everyone goes above and beyond for the company and all they give us is a stale cookie and a letter thanking us.”

The company told the news outlet it had a great year thanks to its “extraordinary team members who help create and build our incredible beauty community.”

“We are proud of all our employees across our stores, distribution centers, and corporate offices who contributed to this shared success in North America,” the company said in a statement.

“As the leading prestige beauty retailer, it’s success like this that allows us to continue to offer highly competitive benefits and pay, performance bonuses, education, brand perks, training product, gratis, and substantial product discounts to our employees.”

And of course, the internet had a field day with this.

“Not Sephora literally giving the girls cookies,” one user wrote.

“Damn not even a pizza party? ONE cookie?,” someone else asked.

Now Toronto reached out to Sephora and did not hear back in time for publication.
