Buffalo, NY, is in some ways a mirror-universe version of Toronto. Neither altogether familiar nor altogether alien, it inhabits a present that could just as easily be our future or past.
I visited the city over the May 24-25 (Memorial Day) weekend, as part of a Buffalo Urbex Weekender trip put on by Toronto-based Vignette Tours. I’ll have a full writeup in this week’s paper, but in the meantime, here is an assortment of signs that hint – with varying degrees of subtlety – at the ways that that city differs from ours.
