Six Shooter joins the NXNE hoopla by throwing itself a birthday bash (properly named The Second Annual Backlot BBQ) on Saturday (June 9) from 2 to 6 pm to mark its first year on the Leslieville strip. Between brewskies and band sets in the backyard, guests can shop the indie label’s retail roster of music-related merch and goodies by moonlighting musicians.
Tie-ins include hand-painted vintage cowboy boots by singer and artist Sarah Teitel , the Twitch Designs jewellery line by Sarah Doucet (Luke’s sister) and jerk- and habanero- flavoured Jimmy’s Hot Sauce by Doucet’s bassist, Rich Levesque . Six Shooter Ts, shot glasses and bottle openers are branded with the bucking bronco logo and feature the company’s “Life is too short to listen to shitty music” mantra.
The rest of the space will be given over to vintage print cards, country & western novelties and a growing library of albums from indie labels like Arts & Crafts , MapleMusic and True North . Six Shooter picks: The in-house T-shirt line comes in grey, blue and black with contrasting neck and arm bands, $20 an acrylic-on-vinyl painting of Six Shooter artist Ford Pier by Kurt Swinghammer goes for $300 Shary Boyle wrote and illustrated the graphic novel Witness My Shame (Conundrum), $19.95.
Look for: The lineup of birthday BBQ performers like Royal Wood , Jason Plum and Justin Rutledge . No NXNE wristband required.
