The Soft Pink Truth is Drew Daniel (half of experimental electronic duo Matmos) taking on house, electro-funk, synth-disco, R&B and techno but shredding up the samples through intensive processing and editing. Daniel uses techniques that owe much to Akufen as well as to Matthew Herbert (whose label put this out), but Do You Party? still sounds different from anything those two have done. Be forewarned: this is a cheeky and sometimes silly party album, although it’s still unclear at what kind of parties this would be playing.
